A long history of helping dealerships

Since 1947, Krex, Inc. has been helping new car dealerships provide unbeatable value, allowing them to stand out from the crowd and grow their businesses.

In those early days, and for quite some time after, we were focused on delivering high-quality automotive chemicals to dealerships’ service departments. Over time, we became famous for Krex® Graphite Engine Lubricant, which allowed dealerships to offer superior engine protection with every oil change.

But soon after the turn of the century, we realized we could do more. Dealerships told us that they struggled to keep customers coming back for service. Aftermarket tire and lube shops drew vehicle owners away from dealerships’ service departments. And, even worse, dealerships learned that the customers who went somewhere else for service often never made another purchase from them.

We wanted to help, so we created DriveSure.

DriveSure, a brand encompassing multiple dealership solutions, is specifically designed to make participating dealerships the one-stop stop their customers rely on for maintenance, tires, and repairs. We don’t do it through gimmicks, discounts, or spam – but through truly unique ways to offer more value to customers.

The DriveSure Renewable Benefits, our first retention solution, makes it easy for new car dealerships to provide a unique suite of benefits with each routine maintenance visit. Not only do these benefits encourage customers to return the next time they need scheduled maintenance, they also establish the dealership’s service department as the go-to place for tires and unplanned repairs.

We’ve since rolled out DriveSure’s Maintenance Marketing System, providing dealerships with intelligent marketing solutions that connect them with their customers at the right moments – through an online portal, direct mail, email, SMS messaging, point of sale collateral, reimagined windshield reminder stickers, and even their smartphones.

Most recently, we’ve help dealerships reimagine what’s possible with prepaid maintenance. Rather than being one of many offers discussed in the F&I office, DriveSure Prepaid Maintenance was designed specifically to be sold in the service lane. This simplifies the sales process for both dealerships and customers, offering tailored service plans that boost customer loyalty and ensure a consistent revenue stream for the dealership.

With our unique and comprehensive set of solutions, DriveSure dealerships realize significant increases in retention, frequency of service visits, and tire sales.

We all make mistakes. Own it and help us get better as an organization because of it. Making mistakes is better than faking perfection.

Hold yourself accountable.

Silence your phone and put it away while in meetings. The mere presence of a phone signals that our attention is divided, even if we don’t intend it to be. If you need it on hand because you are expecting an important call, simply declare it at the start of the meeting.

Deliver bad news in person or via phone call only. You owe it to the other person to discuss it person to person. Electronic messages, no matter how carefully crafted, can be easily misinterpreted because they don’t have the benefit of tone, body language or conversational context. When in doubt, pick up the phone.

Multitasking is a myth. You can do two things at once, but you can’t focus effectively on two things at once.

Our official dress code: Dress appropriately.

Turn your camera on for virtual conferencing. We want to be seen, even if the other party doesn’t have theirs on. While nothing will replace the value of face-to-face meetings, turning our cameras on helps bridge the gap, and allows us to better communicate with facial expressions and body language.

Over many decades, the Krex pen has become an icon of our culture. It should be given in a personal way, with eye contact, and handed directly to the person. Its purpose is to convey goodwill and friendliness, as well as give thanks. It can also be used to write with.

Meet our leadership team



Bill joined Krex, Inc. in 1987 and has served in the role of President since 2000. Previous positions held in the company include Controller, Operations Manager, and General Manager. Prior to joining Krex, Bill held positions in commercial banking. Bill holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Miami University, and an M.B.A. in Marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Bill and his wife, Andrea, have four children. In his free time, Bill enjoys reading, cycling, and running, and recently completed his 12th marathon.


Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Chris began his career with Krex in 1997 and has held positions of increased responsibility within accounting, logistics, operations, sales, and new product development. Chris earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. Xavier University, and his MBA with concentrations in Strategy and Management from Loyola University Chicago. Chris and his wife, Michelle, have two children. He enjoys visiting different places to eat, drink, and explore.


Director of Operations

Brandon joined Krex in 2006 as an examiner in our claims department. After progressive experience in accounting, marketing, project management, operations and human resources, Brandon was promoted to Director of Operations in 2017. He enjoys listening to music, watching SciFi movies, and spending time with his two nieces.



Walter started with Krex, Inc. in August 1966. Throughout his time with Krex, Walter has held positions in both sales and marketing. Before joining Krex, Walter worked for Archer Packaging. Walter has a Bachelor of Science in Business and Biology from Albion College and an M.B.A from Michigan State University. Walter enjoys traveling with his wife, Brenda, and spending time with their four children and 13 grandchildren.
